Maybe I have no right to ask you this, but . . ."<BR><BR> Linus continues, "Didn't I see you yesterday with another kid who must be at least a year older than you?"<BR><BR> Linus asks, "I'm only two months older than you . . Why is his age okay but mine isn't?"<BR><BR> Lydia says, "There's older, and then there's older!"<BR><BR>

I know all this is for the sake of humor, but, I’m tempted to interpret Lydia’s claiming Linus is ’too old for her"as simply her way of refusing to be his girl. What Linus says here in panel 2 is what gives me that impression;like he implies in panel 3, it makes no sense at all, that a boy “at least a year older”is OK,but not a boy “only two months older.”Girls tend to behave this way,coy in a snobby way. And still another fine example of unrequited love,in Peanuts.
