    I know all this is for the sake of humor, but, I’m tempted to interpret Lydia’s claiming Linus is ’too old for her"as simply her way of refusing to be his girl. What Linus says here in panel 2 is what gives me that impression;like he implies in panel 3, it makes no sense at all, that a boy “at least a year older”is OK,but not a boy “only two months older.”Girls tend to behave this way,coy in a snobby way. And still another fine example of unrequited love,in Peanuts.
