I remember once sledding down Art Hill (St. Louis) with my friend. I was fully grown at the time, the hill was pretty icy by then, so I’m reaching the bottom of the hill and coming up on the lake pretty fast. I figured I was going over the edge, but the cinder path just before the lake stopped me literally on the edge of the lake.
Later, I went down with my friend riding on my back. Didn’t think about the physics of it, and this time as we approached the lake the cinder path didn’t stop us, and over the wall we went. Broke the sled. (Fortunately, the lake was frozen solid.)
Clayton should be pushing from the other side, create a snow bank to act as a brake. It won’t stop dad, of course, but it will slow him down considerably. On the other hand, if you take cartoon physics into account, a giant loop would be awesome.
This would be my son coming down that hill. For whatever reason even as a sane, intelligent grown adult, he seems to have no fear of danger. His kids would fully expect him to be doing the same thing, given the chance.

Parents can be reckless too, Clayton. Apparently way more reckless.

Down the hill he goes
On a no horse open sled
O’er the ramp he flies
Hope he don’t break his head
Oh, siren sounds, siren sounds
Ambulance is on it’s way
Oh what fun it is to ride
To the ER, hope Dad’s OK

Never start a sentence with “Only an idiot…” You’re just asking for something to go wrong!

You can’t cure reckless. The best you can do is point it in the right general direction and hope for the best.

Don’t worry, when elected President Bloomberg will put a stop to this and other things that aren’t good for. After all, we don’t know any better.

Those kids are going to get smooshed before Dad dies from the jump.
