Much better than when they catch them. My greys are getting old now and don’t chase much anymore. When they were younger they would catch them but learned not to bring them back since we took them away.
First time Boss Bailey (retired racing greyhound) saw a real rabbit in the wild, he immediately started a stealthy approach, as if he had been doing it all his life. Eventually, the rabbit dodged under the blackberry thicket.
When Benny was still pretty much a puppy, he caught a rabbit by default; it tried to run from him, the neighbor’s dog was after it too, so it turned and ran back at Benny. He snapped it up, turned and looked at us, as if to ask what to do next and the rabbit shrieked, startling Benny, who dropped it!!! End of his valorious hunting career.
Our Border Collies over the years have shown mixed reactions to backyard wildlife. When one of our “mighty hunters” inadvertently caught one once, he very gently carried it over to us and deposited it at our feet, looking up as if to say, “Something went wrong. Fix him, PLEASE!”

Not that it would ever happen, but what would you do with it Fred if you caught it.

Fred is so good, he would never hurt a rabbit.

Fred loves the chase-catching would be a bonus that he wouldn’t know what to do with.
