    “Frank?” Frederick was sometimes shortened to Fred, but I’ve never seen him called Frank.

    “Be keerful” brings Henry Fleming’s mother in The Red Badge of Courage to mind. Struck me one day that that’s how Illini like me sounded to New Yorkers like Stephen Crane.
