I had a couple of German Shepherds and they loved snowballs. I can’t hit the back end of a bull with a snowball but I never missed a dog. (Soft ones of course. I’m not mean.)
I do that with my dogs. I will throw a snowball for them, and they will try to fetch it. Of course, the problem is, how do you find a disintegrated snowball in the snow?

You mean all this time you never threw a ball for Farley before? The poor guy has waited years to play catch.

My dog would do that when we got enough snow. I miss her a lot. She passed back in December.

I had a beagle in 1975 that would fetch snowballs.
