Must not be able to afford hearing aids. Or his hearing is so bad they don’t help.

In my case, the volume set to 35 isn’t that loud, is it?

Let’s see betwee OTA and the various roku channels mine goes from 20 to 55. Not too bad considering I’m 66.

Mine depends on how much damn background music they put in the shown to obscure dialogue. My wife likes “Grey’s Anatomy” so I watch it with her…. but about a third of the episode has obnoxious music WITH LYRICS played my that is LOUDER than the dialogue being spoken by the actors.

It really gets me how actors today might do 13 episodes of a show and they are completely worn out. Gunsmoke played every week. The whole crew. You didn’t hear them whining.

What would Matt do without Festus? And what would “we” do if we couldn’t hear “Gunsmoke”

This one is pretty strange. If a 19 year old is listening at 19, does that make them a Plugger?I guess yes, since the real 19 year olds have ear buds on and are tuned out.

Actually, the volume on mine depends on what I’m watching – sometimes 23 is LOUD while other times 44 is barely audible

Closed captioning is great, lip reading is a great bonus but the attitude of the actors comes through with the volume set high. The emotional content can be as necessary to understanding as the actual words. And, closed caption has the bonus that occasionally the CC version of what was said is different enough, changes the meaning enough or skips over something enough that the result is funny.

Haha, I blew out the speakers on my t.v., turning it so high! My son bought me a new t.v. and hooked up stereo speakers to it so I wouldn’t wreck this one.

As I recall, my Dad would turn up the volume of every device he had when he started his daily routine … and then leave it at that volume when he turned in for the night … took a while to get the house to stop vibrating … ;)
