There was actually a war (1835–36) between the State of Ohio and the Territory of Michigan over which one would get Toledo. Michigan got the Upper Peninsula as a consolation prize. What’s really remarkable of this aerial view of this city (and other cities in this story arc) is that in 1911, there wasn’t a lot of aerial photography going on. And yet the views are very accurate. WM would’ve had to visit each city, sketch the buildings from ground level, and the combine them into an aerial perspective.
