Dew: Building a deck, eh, Chuck? Chuck: Nice to see you still have a firm grasp of the obvious, Dew. Dew: Remember that deck I had on the old cafe? Chuck: Yeah, sure, I guess so. Dew: That was a well-built deck! Chuck: mm. Dew: I used a much higher grade of lumber than this, though. Chuck: Why are you here, Dew?

Mine is two inch thick solid teak. Top that! Of course, it’s only 8 by 12…inches.

You mean, better than free palette wood next to the dumpster? Free nails too.

I have a neighbor whom I refer to as Bob Villa. He can’t tell one end of a hammer from the other one. He watches home improvement shows and thinks he knows how to build things. I was helping another neighbor build a cinder block fence and Bob Villa unhelpfully (while we had gone to get more mortar mix one afternoon) took down the course string and put it up again…you guessed it…on an angle. That particular stunt cost us about 3 hours work to correct his ingenuity.

I have a friend who once said, in frustration, if you want to collect a crowd start washing windows or building a fire. You’ll have a mob who will tell you how to do it “right” (which of course does not resemble how YOU’re doing it) in no time.
