Fun facts. Werner Klemperer was the son of Otto Klemperer, an orchestra conductor. Werner was an accomplished violinist. His family were Jews who managed to escape Nazi Germany. He agreed to Hogan’s Heroes only if the Nazis would be portrayed as buffoons.

Back in the 90s there was a show on German TV called Heimat Melodie (Homeland Melody) which was Hee-Haw in Lederhosen. Now that’s entertainment.

I don’t remember anybody on “Hogan’s Heroes” speaking German. Even Germans spoke English to each other.
