You’re supposed to hide the ball in your glove so you can tag a runner as he takes a lead off of the base. The fielder needs to be an infielder, so Lucy’s not the right player for this trick play to work. It also helps if the game’s started.

This was adapted in the 2016 Peanuts TV series episode “Amateurs”. This happened before Peppermint Patty told Charlie Brown that she’ll trade him Marcie for Lucy.
