I am so glad that my identity and self-worth aren’t tied up in teams that I’m not on, and that don’t really care about their fans.
Do you disbelieve that last part? Except for the Packers, show me one that wouldn’t move if a city in another state offered to build a new stadium or arena.

Back in the good old days when I could sit down with my coworkers for lunch, I use to play a game. Invariably, there was one dude who was so rabid about sports that if you disagreed with him, or said something he didn’t like, he would lose his mind. So, since I haven’t followed football since I was a child (<-subtle dig) I would scan the sports page for names and then say something like…
“I dunno about the Peewits this weekend. They say MacPlonk has the flu. Don’t you think that would affect his throwing arm?”
And we’d be off to the races.

Being a Pats fan now is realizing that you CAN lose, and makes the season more interesting. Not that I don’t appreciate the previous 20 years.
