I have heard of army ants, but army centipedes who knew.
One of my favorite cartoons from the 1960s (I think) was a guy sitting in a military looking room, obviously on another planet. Through the open window we hear someone counting cadence:
Hup
twop
free
….
Missing a left leg there, 8 lefts, 9 rights. That’s got to be awkward.
Army centipedes?
“Get in step, soldier!”
99-thump, 99-thump, 99-thump – a centipede with a wooden leg.
Or just “LEFTS! RIGHTS! LEFTS!…”
Reminds me of “Stripes” .
