This reminds me of the time my ex took me ice skating when we were first dating. I’d roller skated for years but had never ice skated before, & he thought it would be fun to watch me fall. I did just fine, but he fell 3 times!
A couple of years later we went ice skating again, this time with a few friends who’d come from warm climates (in Africa & India). One poor guy didn’t know he needed to lace his skates up all the way & nearly sprained an ankle more than once. Another guy, who had his skates laced up tight enough to stand on but didn’t have the hang of propelling himself, was doing OK until we took him out in the middle & left him there.
