I started doing business with a water delivery service in December. Fully expected to have to supply a cc to pay. Guy said, “no, just send me a check.” I guess it’s good that I still occasionally (rarely) use checks.
why write a check when you have an app for that. Although any app using farcebook and Mark Suckingberg. I am not using I don’t trust you with anything Mark.
That’s why I won’t go shopping on Tuesdays. “Senior Discount Day, everybody over 65 pay by check or cannot figure out how a debit card works” And they do it in the 15 items or fewer so-called “Express Lane”
I used to pay at the grocery store and many other places with cash. I switched to credit/debit cards a couple of years ago. They announced that they were going to put in Apple Pay (Samsung Pay, Google Pay, Etc.) and about a year later, actually installed the terminals for it. I used my phone for a while, then I got an Apple Watch, and never take my wallet out of my pocket. I used my debit card that way until the Apple Card came along. Now, I get a 2% instant rebate on my groceries and prescriptions. Times change, and I try really hard to keep up. Doing pretty well, so far.
I still write a check to my church for tithe and special offerings. Bills, I do online. Still send checks to charities and out of town family at Christmas and to pay the occasional handyman who doesn’t do credit cards. I write maybe 20 a year.
I do write checks for tithes at church, which is unusual for a 20-something, but that way I get a record for “charitable giving” tax deduction. But at work (a little country store), when a middle-aged or older person pays by check, it is rather time-consuming. I have to ask for his/her license and write the number on there and so on. Later, when the current manager collects my drawer, most of them groan and tell me not to accept it. I think they’re joking, lol.
My church uses a tithing web site that takes my donations from my credit card account monthly and sends me a report of the donations for tax purposes. It also allows me to designate the particular fund(s) to which the donation should go. And 100% of my donations go to the church.

I don’t even know where my checkbook is. I’d have to find it to see how many years it’s been.

And when they do pay in cash they have their coin purse so they can pay in exact change, even if it’s 98¢.
