As a person who lives in slug country, I’m quite sure that you can slide if you step on a (formerly) live one. But mostly, slug trails aren’t slimy: they’re sticky!
One of life’s worst experiences.. stepping on a slug with bare feet. I grew up on a farm.. ran barefoot the whole summer and cow pies or chickens are nothing compared to stepping on a slug.
Years ago in Oregon I was walking a Coastal trail with a friend fallen leaves all over the place. She said what is that line down the middle of the trail. I said it’s a giant slug trail. A few yards later a clear spot showed it was the white line making two sides to the trail. :)

I have a sign (in standard yellow diamond form) saying Banana Slug Crossing
https://slugweb.com/toys.html
But they exist elsewhere, too.

and then there is this video:

Isn’t there a warning sign for people coming from the other way?

Same issue for Canada geese.

The best way to control slugs is to put out small, saucer-like containers of beer. The slugs crawl in and drown happily.
Also geese are very effective in turning slugs into fertilizer.

Did marathon girl trip over the sluggish pedestrians?

Wouldn’t the sign work better if it was at slug-height and said, “Caution, Humans Running.”
