Years ago, down near Martinsville, there was ol’ boy, a small holdings farmer, who never got a driver’s license. His transportation was his Allis tractor. Eventually, as things got modernized and “officialized”, down there, the law started to take umbrage at his behavior and pinched him. I had a second cousin who was also a farm boy. While he was just starting to shave and date, and he was still too young to get a driver’s license, he did have a permit to drive vehicles in use on “farm business”. When going out on a date, he threw a few hay bales in the truck before fetching his girlfriend as a subterfuge.
Is this the ultimate Plugger road trip? Alvin Straight (who couldn’t see well enough to have a driver’s license) rode his riding mower 250 miles to visit his ailing brother.
My brother has an excavation business digging foundations, plowing snow, etc. He often starts very early in the morning. One day he learned that due to some kind of miscommunication, his granddaughter wasn’t able to get to school. Since he was already out on his backhoe, he just took her to school on that. (Less time needed than to go back home, get his truck, etc.)

so would he have to carpool with a buddy (for whom he’ll have also pay for gas) if both his Chevy and tractor breakdown?

A plugger would make his own coffee.

As if that’s not bad enough, he could’ve walked there in five minutes.

He has to give all the other Plugger’s something new to talk about.

That seems totally logic to me. I mean, one uses the vehicle that works. Maybe I am a plugger? :-D

Classy plugger. Pickup and a tractor with money left over for coffee.

Unfortunately , the tractor is too damn slow…. So would walk instead just because it is faster.

We have a couple of folks who drive their Garden Tractor to the local Dollar General on a regular basis :-)

They don’t go for the coffee!, They go for conversation and fish stories.

Saw a John Deere at a coffee shop down in rural Florida. Guess it was easier than getting the pickup.

But a Plugger would also be likely to have more than one vehicle too… like an even older pickup, or that ancient car that some of them have… ;-)

I once wrote a guy tickets and towed his riding lawn mower because he drove it from two towns over, State highways included, to get somewhere.
