    I wonder why Schulz frequently had his characters trying to read books that usually aren’t read until college, and only for people studying literature, while they’re in the earlier grades of elementary school.

    A well read student body makes a literate nation. Anything can happen in the comics!! Even faking a book report. I flunked a book report once by mispronouncing the name of the author and that was in junior high school.

    The oldest was a waste of oxygen; the middle one went crazy; the youngest was supposed to achieve greatness in the second volume, never written. All described in the style of a writer who is paid per page.
