Because of varying work schedules, on Sundays I get the day off, my wife and two daughters go to work. My favorite line is that they are going to have to work hard so I can continue to live in the lap of luxury. They of course, somewhere deep down inside, appreciate the words of encouragement.
Some days I have to question my career choice, but the ability to work from home sort of off sets most things. At least until I really HAVE to work from home(at 1 AM on Sunday).
We were having a frightful snow storm. I was settling down at my desk thinking, “How great to be a work-at-home software developer. I have my kids here, my wife, all snug and don’t have to go anywhere!” Then Suzie said, “We have to go to Dad’s today.”
Husband and I went to college together. We each lived at home. On snowy days he would have me sit in my car with the heat on while he cleared my windows for me. I still think it was the romantic thing he could do. After we married if it had snowed overnight he would clear my windows before he left for work (and clear his also obviously).
To pay him back, in those days we had a lot smaller snow storms and we had a single car driveway, not the semi-circle we have now. I would go out and clear the driveway if snowed during the day so he could park when he got home from work and not have first to clear snow. He thought it was so nice of me to do so- as protested it was too much work for me.
Now we both schlep out and do the snow together. Not as romantic, but it works unless we get one of the new huge storm.

Couldn’t you at least offer to drive her to work, and then pick her up?!!?!

Retirement’s even nicer than working from home.

I’m retired so I don’t work from home any more. I work at home. I have a honey-do-list.

For almost 40 years I’ve been on the wrong side of that equation. At least I’m now living in warmer climes.

Time to buy Laura a car heater that she can turn on from inside the house.

Hard to tell, but it looks to me like it’s a calm, clear, sunny day. Calm, clear, sunny days never look cold — they’re very deceptive that way.
