No, I GUESS it HAD NEVER occurred to Linus, that the Great Pumpkin could actually be a SHE—-after all, the GP does not exist, so, if you THINK about it, you could have ANY fictional being(whether it exists in folklore, like Santa Claus, or not, like the Great Pumpkin), you could have them be EITHER male OR female, really. Schulz was clever, the way he could have his characters represent feelings of “surprise”, or “startledness,” in various ways(like he does with Linus, in Panels 3 and 4, by having Linus’ hair stand on end), or when he would draw someone doing a flip, to represent startled feelings, like being startled, at being yelled at.
