About a dozen years ago we were in a ‘party’ store in the deep south. Alabama or Miss. Don’t recall. My wife is an avid holiday decorator and has something for every holiday except MLK. It’s not big in Canada but we believe in his message. I walked up to the proprietor and asked what we could hang for MLK day and he leaned over the counter and quietly said, “we ain’t allowed to do that no more”. I had no response and just turned and walked away.
Ours are mostly still up. I pulled down the blow ups and the lasers and unplugged everything else. My son is going to have to get to the rest. But right now it’s 20F.
One year I noticed a house still had their outdoor Christmas decorations up and it was well into the spring. I had to pass that house on my way to my son’s school so I made a note of looking at it every day. It was probably early May or so when they finally took it all down. I wondered if maybe the homeowner was hospitalized or just on an extended vacation that caused them to not be able to take them down earlier.
The next year they took them down in early January so my guess about that one year is probably more correct than I initially thought.

Are you okay with just turning them off? Or offer to help?

We are gradually getting our Christmas stuff put away.
Nobody can see our house from the street, so we don’t decorate outside, but put the emphasis on the inside.

I still have a set up. Next warm day, I may take it down or unplug it anyway.
