You know, even though Burroughs was born in 1875 (or maybe because he was born then), I don’t think ERB would have approved of this. Yeah, he had plenty of stereotypes in his work, but this is something he never did. Or at least not that I remember.

clarke3060 has nailed it. I remember years ago more than one spanking scene in a movie and even TV. It usually led to a brief romance. In a TV series (e.g. “Maverick”) the lady would wave goodbye sadly. It was OK back then. Suddenly, today it becomes “Fifty Shades of Tarzan”. I’ll bet anything she’ll soon be in love with him, but of course he’ll swing off into the trees.
