What happened to the pool table and all of the other space that’s supposedly inside that doghouse?

First time I heard of claustrophobia for Snoopy. This would affect many of the story lines over the years. Or is this just another way to serve his dog, a big story line in the final decade of the strip?

At least Snoopy’s Andrew Wyeth is staying dry.
