I’m no expert on the rate of physical deterioration of a human corpse, but wouldn’t it take longer than the length of one football season for him to get to this stage? Never mind the more likely concerns of his wife: “George? Aren’t you coming to dinner?” “George, when are you coming to bed?” (There’s also “George, hasn’t it been a while since you took a shower?”)
