This should show those spiral CFLs. Those were the crappiest lighting idea of the century. Relatively expensive, slow to brighten, turned dimmer and more orange over time, never lasted the seven years they were supposed to, and hazardous waste you can’t just throw away. There were (still are?) heated filament bulbs in continuous service for over a hundred years.
I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
