Sally holds a piece of paper and says, "Look at all the people I have to send Christmas cards to!" Charlie Brown asks, "If it bothers you, why do you do it?"<BR><BR> Sally puts both arms on the table and replies, "Because if I don't, they'll hate me . ."<BR><BR> Sally holds the paper up to Charlie Brown and says, "Look at Loretta..If I don't send her a card she'll hate me . ." Charlie Brown says, "No, she won't."<BR><BR> Perplexed, Sally looks at the paper. Sally muses, "She won't?"<BR><BR> Moving her pen as if to erase something from the paper, Sally yells, "So long, Loretta!"<BR><BR>

Loretta is the girl who sits two rows across from and four seats up from Peppermint Patty; sometime she wears a striped dress and most often has a butterfly barette in her hair. She is one of the girls who gets a straight A on her reports and Peppermint Patty initially begansending her Valentines to hopefully gain her expertise with her school work, but it did not work out. Being the eternal optimist, Marcie enocuraged Patty to keep sending cards to Loretta.
