Well, that didn’t take long. I was kind of hoping for a period of incoherent babbling, followed by a period of amused disbelief. (Along the lines of, “What have you boys been drinking and where can I get some?”) Ah well.

It look like one of the so-called lads lived up to that old cliche: I’m gonna tell my dad and he’s gonna beat you up!

Morbis: “Oh, ok. You leave me no choice but to call the monster. Hey – ma?”

Where is Olwen? Time for some heavy magic.

Villagers with torches. Where are their pitchforks? And why am I ‘seeing’ them led by an officer with an out-of-control right arm?

Looks like the villagers were eagerly waiting for an excuse to attack.

Only four?…not really a serious threat for Wigglesworth.

You’ll need a much bigger mob that that.

Hawker tribal loyalty.

Maybe offer them Ivan?

So even if he’d listened immediately it looks like they’d not have gotten away in time unless they left the tents set up and just ran. No rference for time between Vesper and Mr. Wigglesworth telling Morbis to pack up and run, but I’m assuming only a few minutes passed, likely less than thirty minutes. Takes time to pack up all their gear, they MIGHT at best have just been boarding the wagons when the real monsters would have appeared.

No doubt those three bozos have been harassing the local girls as well. Maybe those girls will all show up and explain that wanting to get aquainted with a girl is one thing, but continuing to hassle her and attacking when she indicated that she wasn’t interested is definitely another.

Or maybe Olwen can explain it in such a way that they can understand.

Seems like right about now is a good time for Winnie to catch up with the family.
