As is said in Breakin’ Cat News: Too many feelies!!! (weep, bawl, etc at the plight of animals and humans in Australia). I do like the touch of it being an elephant firefighter, there are no indigenous elephants in Australia.
Very poignant. All those people and the wildlife lost to such dreadful fires have been in our thoughts. The firefighters have been true heroes as have many in the country. How they’ll ever come to terms with this I just don’t know. Human fortitude in the end I suppose.
I have very dear friends in Australia. So far their home is safe but the fires are getting closer. Much too close for comfort. They can leave but so many animals who cannot leave have tragically perished.
This comic highlights the tragic loss due to the fires that is currently going on in Australia. If you would like to help animals in need and those displaced by the fires, please visit this link http://bit.ly/2N4Sp2I of the comic which has links to places you can donate.
Also, a not so fun fact: I experienced my own home burning down a number of years ago. Very much like Koala here, I awoke in the middle of the night to find the roof of my apartment building on fire (me being on the top floor). I managed to escape with my three cats at the time, but lost everything else. The American Red Cross and friends helped me a lot during that time to get me back on my feet.
This is soo sad and devastating! I’m so sorry for anyone who experiences a fire….prayers! Just think of all the People and animals who have died and it’s still raging….
Oh no! For everybody out there like Elephant, thank you for doing what your doing. For everyone out there like Koala, keep on trucking, you’ll be back on your feet in no time.
As far as koalas are concerned, there’s a larger impact here as well… A lot of the koala population has been succumbing to chlamydia in recent years. The koalas in Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park were all free of the disease and considered an ‘insurance’ population. And of course, they’re all wrapped up in the fires. Sigh.
Spent 40 years fighting wildland fires, Australia is having a terrible time, and it IS anthropogenic climate change making things worse on most of the planet. It isn’t just fire, but snowstorms, flooding, and acidification of the oceans, among other problems.
Prayers and blessings for all responders, no matter where they are from or where they may be right now. Prayers also going up for all (human and otherwise) who are in harm’s way.
The elaphant’s trunk probably washed out the fire.Pretty good fire fighter if you ask me.Except you did not ask me.I feel bad for the chipmunk. I don’t know how his next home will be like.

Is it a natural calamity? Did some careless or wicked fiend start those fires?
