There’s a Burger King near us that seems to constantly be out of vital things. Once they were out of buns and another time they ran out of the mozzarella sticks they were advertising all over their building and on the menu itself. I kind of understood that as it was a new item and they probably underestimated its popularity but running out of buns was just jaw-dropping to me.
In the meantime, there is a grocery story right next to this location but there’s probably some rule that says they can’t source from anywhere but the vendors that BK HQ approves.
It’s not like your family picnic where you run up for more buns. It’s a business with liability concerns, and quality control. Unfortunately when a fast food chain introduces a new menu item they have only focus group input to estimate demand. This not unique to any one outlet like BK.
