I had a family member going thru radiation treatments and the medical office had puzzles in the waiting room. With each visit the puzzle was a bit more done and we enjoyed adding to it. We finished one and took out another. Good memories of another wise hard time.
As a child in the 1950’s, this was a major family diversion, even though everyone hid one piece to try to be the “finisher”. Dad made a plywood cover for the card table, and at bedtime would put it under the sofa until the next night.
We had a dedicated puzzle table. Our biggest issue was keeping the cats from taking pieces. There was always a puzzle in work. Once completed and everyone viewed the completed picture it was torn apart and a new one started. Our rules said NO LOOKING AT THE PICTURE, so the box was shelved during the assembly.

Put a tablecloth over it, you can finish after dinner.
