    I’ve never heard a barn owl shriek. Maybe it’s only the babies, but the only sound I’ve heard out of them is hissing.

    I guess I need to learn more about owls. I assumed that owls only hunted at night and squirrels were only out during the day. I should have known better than believe in absolutes. I usually don’t make that mistake. Looks like I have some research to do!! :o) Fun! Fun! Fun!

    What’s a barn owl doing out and about in broad daylight? They’re only active between dusk and dawn, usually stirring just a bit after sunset.

    Yes, but then you’d be doing the shrieking as the owl carried you away to make you a meal for itself and any young it had in the nest.
