Save the string for what, Lucy? Making a beef rouladen?

When I was in high school, “To Dream the Impossible Dream” was popular. I thought up a music video involving Charlie Brown attempting to fly his kite.

I immediately preceded this strip with Cul de Sac.

At least he missed the kite-eating-tree.

There was a children’s book called A Big Ball Of String.

No tree this time?

I’m trying to imagine CB flying one of those “Fighting Kites”, which have 4 strings attached to two control handles, one held in each hand. They are capable of doing aerobatic maneuvers (in the hands of an experienced flyer). Even the mundane ‘box kite’ would provide more stability than the design CB seems to prefer …

Question of the Day: In the last panel, was Lucy being her usual snarky, insensitive self, or was she trying to put a more positive spin on a bad situation? I can’t wait to see what kind of responses this gets…

As a kid we spent our summers at the beach. The evening always featured a strong onshore wind. Perfect for flying kites. I have no idea why it could fascinate me for at least an hour day after day. Back in those days, kites weren’t fancy and didn’t do anything; they just sort of hovered in the breeze.

I don’t know, maybe I was into Zen in those days.

Or kicking the football, that makes kind of a good hobby too. No strings attached.

I collect string-ettes. They have many uses.

He was doing just fine till he got close to lucy

Down here in India kite flying is a festival. And yes, there are no kite eating trees either.

One time he got it up and it exploded.

I hate it when there is just enough wind to fly a kite and all of a sudden the wind dies. Almost as bad as too much wind where the kite only wants to do loops when you’ve run out of string.
