This is the closest visual rendition of the Little Red-Haired Girl in the comic strip. Charlie Brown’s sweetheart, who had many mentions since the early ’60s, makes an appearance in silhouette in 1998.

Her story sadly never did go anywhere. infortunate. Shultz really disapointed me in this area.

On Valentine’s Day 2011, the Schulz Museum gave free admission to all redheaded girls (and boys) in honor of the Little Red Haired Girl.

Although the Little Red-Haired Girl has appeared in a few specials (most notably in “It’s Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown” and "Happy New Year, Charlie Brown, where she is given the name Heather) and in “The Peanuts Movie” (her first speaking role, done by Francesca Capaldi, who also voices Frieda), Schulz says what was seen on TV is “non-canonical”, meaning it doesn’t connect to the strips.

Peggy Jean is probably the best guess. For it appears that Schulz gave Charlie Brown one girl friend who he really liked who he could be with, whether she was imaginary or real.

This strip was adapted into part of the 2002 TV special “A Charlie Brown Valentine,” but in that one they actually showed the Little Red-Haired Girl in full view dancing with Snoopy instead of as a silhouette, and she looked different from this strip (her hair was more curly.) She was also still unnamed, instead of being called “Heather” like in a few prior specials and “The Peanuts Movie.”

Ah, the only appearance of Heather. Later, when they were developing the Peanuts Movie, this silhouette proved invaluable in rendering her appearance as faithfully as possible, as Schulz wasn’t around to direct how she was supposed to look.

The closest we’ll ever get to seeing the little red headed girl in the comic.

Snoopy is quoting chapter 6 of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby”, one of Charles Schulz’s favorite books.
