those sure were the days
I watch Colbert; before that it was Jay Leno. Prior to that I didn’t see much of Johnny as I didn’t get home from work soon enough.
Plugger Van Winkle!
For the first 20 years Johnny Carson was host my parents wouldn’t let me stay up that late.
Or years back, Jack Paar. Or even further back, Steve Allen. Wait, who came first? Steve or Jack?
That’s to late for me . Tis the only part of the night I know I will sleep ;-)
You’re a plugger if you remember when late night comics were funny.
You’re a plugger if it’s been 28 years since you’ve stayed up late.
You’re a Plugger when you remember Jimmy Fallon from Saturday Night Live.
You’re a Plugger if you remember when the Tonight Show was funny.
Steve’s stint was funnier, but Paar had great interviews (where people actually talked about things other than their latest to hype)
I only stayed up for the monologue, unless somebody special was on. Carol Wayne or Dolly Parton qualified…
Not even Pluggers watch the Tonight Show any more.
Steve Allen had some great shows, not just Tonight. Anyone remember “Meeting of the minds?”
Johnny Carson was so good. Nobody has come close to filling his shoes on a consistent basis! I’m not saying the others since then weren’t/aren’t good, it’s just that they haven’t reached his level of consistent excellence.
