I am glad John calls him Ted so we know who he is. It’s been several years since we have seen Dr. Ted McCaulay and his appearance has changed a lot since the last time we saw him. He has lost his pointy nose, his hooked jaw line and his blond hair. Elizabeth thinks Elly doesn’t look too well, but that’s nothing compared to Dr. Ted McCaulay.
Ted, despite being a doctor, you know nil about pregnancy and fetuses. The babies decide when they are ready to come. Nothing we women could do but help bring them out.
It’s jarring to remember these were the days before cell phones were common. Being in a car or even at another house puts him out of touch (unless he calls in from wherever he is going).
The sad part is that in any other circumstance, Ted would be right, it would be far safer for John to stay put and not try to brave this kind of weather.

Babies seem to know when it’s the worst time to make their way into the world. It is baby magic. Sort of like their aim when the diaper comes off.

So he washed his car before going to work? Either he gets up early, or he opens his office late!
