Back in the 60’s we resolved it the old fashioned way, fights almost every day after school. And if the bully was too big there were older brothers or cousins to explain things to him. Back then once you were off school property no one at the school cared what happened to you. Dad earned a college track scholarship in the 40’s, when I asked how he got so good the answer was he had to out run the bullies every day after school. Now days, it’s either guns or attorneys. I’m not sure we have made any progress.
Sitting down in a room with a bunch of adults trying to resolve issues rarely works, why do adults think small children can work the magic? As well, imagine it as an adult – well Bob, we know Phil stole your car, but Bob, what could YOU have done to have prevented that? Did you ever TRY to make friends with Phil? Did you think maybe Phil has other issues at home that may have made him feel he needed to steal your car and this is not all about you, Bob? I think there are no innocent parties here Bob, you need to take some of the blame for having a car in the first place that Phil wanted. Now hug it out and be besties! – Ludicrous thinking applied to an adult, but apply it to kids, sure, what the heck…sigh.

{sigh} schools with zero-tolerance on bullying sure don’t really solve problems by also talking to the bully and its victims in the same room

School systems are still trying to figure out how to deal with this. I have no confidence they will figure it out any time soon.

When the teacher calls the bully by his chosen nickname, perhaps the argument has gotten sidetracked.
