I’m glad that I’m out of public screw-l…er…school. There seems to be more reliance on standardized tests and performance metrics than there was when I was in school. :/
The other half of the story is the teachers don’t test the ones that won’t do well on tests to boost the averages. Academic achievement doesn’t count if they just test the ringers and don’t test the whole school.
If you make testing important, guess what the mediocre teachers learn to teach? And guess where the better teachers go when they’re required to do mediocre (at best) teaching? Yup. (Expand the image and take a close look at what he’s holding in the second panel)
