I went through a phase of blowing a LOT of soap bubbles for pretty much a whole summer when I was at university. I was laid up, told not to even stand up except for necessities, and desperately trying to learn enough German to meet my graduation requirements… so OF COURSE I spent a lot of productive time sitting on the sofa blowing bubbles.
Turns out that at some point the piece of carpeting in the room got so covered with dead bubble stuff that it would allow bubbles to land there and stay for several seconds. I’m glad my mother never saw that apartment… or carpet… but I did enjoy the longevity of the bubbles.

Adding one second is fairly easy. Indoors, you can use air currents from your hands or mouth to prevent a bubble from hitting anything.
