Considering that “Peanuts” is now only a classic, you gotta admire how it was coordinated to re-appear on April Fool’s Day. Especially since some of the re-runs are showing winter themes in Summer and Christmas themes in July.
No, Gweedo, I’m pretty sure he didn’t. Either she wasn’t there (on the other side of the playground) at all or Charlie Brown got there and saw that she already had seatmates & no room for anyone else.
Pouncingtiger - There was some long-ago strip where Lucy gets CB aggravated about something (I forget what, maybe pulling away the football). Maybe it wasn’t even Lucy, might’ve been Peppermint Patty apologizing for a rough tackle.
…anyway, she asks if he’d like to hit her to make it even. He declines, of course. She presses him, gets him to hold his arm out and make a fist. He’s rolling his eyes, looks away, trying to figure out how to get out of it. She had been looking the away the other direction, monologuing about something, turns back towards him as she finishes and walks into his fist!
Charlie Brown is “very gullible!” I feel badly for him. Fool me once, “shame on you!” Fool me twice, “shame on me!” But, fool me a million times, “YOU IDIOT”!!!!
(Proverbs 26:18 RSV) Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death,
(Proverbs 26:19 RSV) is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I am only joking!”
And you’re right - I’ve never seen Charlie Brown look that angry at anyone. I wonder if the Little Red-Haired Girl will have something to say to Lucy before the day’s over.
i’ve never considered practical jokes to be funny. usually, all they are is mean.
the last April Fool’s joke i ever pulled (and the best one i ever did) was when i was in High School. my best friend and i got dressed up in our “Sunday Best” (complete with ties) and went to every class we had - just to see everyone’s reactions to the change from tee shirts and jeans! it was a blast!

If hitting a girl was politically or socially correct, legal or ethical, I’d suggest CB should smack Lucy with his lunch.

Complete shock and guilt trip ensues, of course…

That was just mean, even for Lucy! And that is the angriest face I’ve ever seen on Charlie Brown.
