My mother was a nursing supervisor in a old age care facility and one of the signs it was time to call the family that someone was ready to pass on was they would start talking to people but there would be no one else in the room but the medical personnel. Kind of like someone telling them it is time to go or not to worry everything would be alright. Sure enough when my mother was ready to pass last May right before she died she was reacting to something or someone talking to her. She was gone 2 hours later.
Years ago, we had such a scare from my grandmother. Upon testing at the hospital, it turned out that her potassium levels were near zero. She had been getting all of the prescriptions she had over the years being refilled and was taking them without fail. The doctor intervened and made sure that she was no longer refilling the unneeded prescriptions. She lived for many years afterwards.
So many things could have caused these symptoms. Stroke, aphasia, a heart condition of one kind or another, etc. etc. Just thinking about it makes me realize how delicate we are, no matter how tough we may look.
I hope Frank Bucket has insurance and that the insurance covers the expenses. I’ve seen a US-American 7-day hospital bill recently and was beyond belief what they charge you: It was at least 30-fold the amount someone has to pay in Germany if he’d be uninsured (which almost nobody is).
And I also saw a video by an American tourist who had an accident here in Germany: He was shocked in disbelief on the 450$-bill for a 4 day stay in a German Hospital, including X-ray, cast, crutches and medication. He thought there was a zero missing.
My wife spent 5 days in the hospital last week. I haven’t seen the bill yet, but we will see how good our insurance is. We have medicare with an advantage plan.

Does any one know what caused this?
