Rather strong symbolism, for a lonely island.
They got as far as they could from everyone, then put in a lot of work to say that they didn’t want anything to do with any of of us. This turned out to be silly & impractical, & their religion, & statues, fell. They also used up every tree on the island & hid their virgins in caves so they’d be really white. The long-ear fashion is making a comeback. They can teach us many things about silly & impractical. I understand because I come from Gælic islanders who got as far as they could until the first boats came west.
