“Male privilege”? It’s the other way around in Iceland. Women have all kinds of privileges that men don’t have. For example, If a woma applies for a job, she gets the job, even though she’s not the most qualified. If she doesn’t she can sue to get the job, which men can’t. In primaries for parlimentary elections, there must be at least 1 woman in the top three seats on the list, and at least 3 in the top 5. If all of the top people on the list are men, women are moved up from further down the list, and the men are moved down. But if all of the top 5 people on the list are women, which happened in the last parlimentary elections, nothing is done. And best of all, the state’s Gender Equality Council consists of 7 members. It was in the news a few years ago that they were all women, which doesn’t seem very equal to me. The government “corrected”, so now there’s one man.
