The remake had a very stupid ending, too. It’s the first movie where, as I left the theatre, I openly complained about it, much to my family’s chagrin. :D :D :D
I never forgot those 3 words…I say them sometimes when I get angry at something. (Instead of using a profanity.) Both Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal said them in the movie.

Thanks to my dad I’ve seen both versions of TDTESS and I have to admit I prefer the original.

I prefer the short story the movie was adapted from. It was written in 1940 the title is Farewell to the Master and the author was Harry Bates.
