As a child and even as a teenager, I physically got sick from the smell of horseradish and excused myself from the table, getting dirty looks from my family.
I wonder what their reaction would have been if I had barfed there and then…
My dad always said, “You have to eat a peck of dirt before you die.”
I’ll leave that there. I’ve pondered it for years, and dirt=stuff you don’t like is the only thing I could come up with. Although I have eaten my share of dirt.

Rhubarb pie if made correctly, like my mum made with enough sugar is absolutely delicious, especially if covered in Bird’s custard!!
On a different note my older brother, Pete and I would have raw rhubarb eating contests to see who could eat the most! He usually won!
