There will always be those in need — help the ones you can anyway. There will always be cruelty — be kind anyway. There will always be injustice — strive for justice anyway. The problems will always be too big for one person — do something anyway.
I was just thinking about this this morning. “Do for the one what you wish you could do for the many.”
I don’t have to save the world. It’s already been done and by someone with better credentials than me. I just have to complete the job in my little corner.
When Jesus tells the parables of the lost sheep and the lost coin in Luke 15, He says, “there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
And Matthew 25 says: “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ’I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
We should never feel that our level of help isn’t enough. Small things add up to great things. Share the Gospel that Jesus is Lord, and love one another. That’s all God asked of us. And if you help just one person, your whole life was worth living.
Mark Twain related the story of a wealthy man who went to church and placed his contribution into the collection plate. Upon this the angels in Heaven began singing and rejoicing saying “Praise God! Abner’s given another nickle!”…

A good philosophy. You can’t do everything, but you can do something.
