So much ignorance in today’s strip. Even if you reject the reasons for only ordaining men, at least present them honestly!

I have absolutely no historical or theological reasoning for the following. It’s a gut feeling.

God the son, Jesus, was most definitely a dude.

Although his dad, God the Father, is referred to as “father,” my impression is parent, gender non-specific.

Somehow I get the impression the that Holy Spirit is more feminine in nature.

It is not uncommon to hear, from the pulpit in our church, of the Holy Spirit being referred to as “she.”

I let slip with that one time and my Evangelical friends all moved away from me on the bench.

A correction to Patrick Marrin’s theological oversight: “Why does Jesus not want woman ordained?”

For those not aware, this comic originates from a secular paper that was formally told by Rome in 1968 that it is no longer recognized as a Catholic newspaper. Though they still keep the word in it, it is known as “The Reporter.”

Article from the National Catholic Report reference why women will not be ordained as priests ever. https://www.ncronline.org/news/vatican/pope-francis-confirms-finality-ban-ordaining-women

Apostolic Letter from St John Paul II in 1994: Ordinatio Sacerdotalishttps://w2.vatican.va/content/john-paul-ii/en/apost_letters/1994/documents/hf_jp-ii_apl_19940522_ordinatio-sacerdotalis.html

In a nutshell – at the Last Supper on the night before Jesus Christ was crucified, He created the first priests – the twelve disciples including yes Judas Iscariot. No women were present. That includes the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus. So based on this from the New Testament, the Catholic Church has taught that it has NO AUTHORITY to ordain women as priests.

The misogyny of the distant past was part of the apostle’s culture and so became ingrained in the church and is still with us…
