For the 1950’s, post World War 2, this must have been pretty different from what most folks were expecting in “the funny papers.” Compared to Beetle Bailey, Blondie, B.C. or Hi & Lois, its no wonder people gravitated to this strip because it was not always trying to be funny or sugar-coat sad moments. Schulz just really wanted to say what was on his mind about life. Not always happy but honest.
