I can remember back in the early 50’s as a child going to the store to get new shoes, it was pretty much as depicted in this toon. Shoes were so much more expensive back then. Today I’d be amazed by any store selling shoes that would have that degree of service.

Shoe sales persons have to be one of the worst jobs possible.. down on your knees handling stinky feet for rock bottom wages.
