Mr. Rosa seems unhappy about the situation. Hopefully he finds a better job that will be thrilling and have better pay since he’s complained about his job many times before.
Usually when this happens in a TV show, it’s cuz the actor can’t play the part anymore. That’s what I think of when I see this strip (and the previous ones in the arc) and then I remember: they are all comic book characters…
I have 2 ways this ends1. We say goodbye to a fan favorite charecter or2. We witness the happiness of Mr Rosa replacing Mrs Godfrey as the social studies teacher
You know what would be cool? If Nate and his friends start a boycott or something, make a petition to get Mr. Rosa back, and then make a fundraiser to get Mr. Rosa back. Those would be cool, plus Mr. Peirce would be able to have a good opportunity to make the strips funny!
Nooooo! Also, if they’re getting rid of art, there’s now a hole in the schedule. Maybe we’ll see the introduction of a new teacher! Also also, it’s my birthday! Yay!
If Mr Rosa has tenure, and the teacher’s union has a good contract, he cannot be let go but might end up teaching history or something like that. I lived in a school district that cut art and music due to budget constraints. All of a sudden a music teacher was teaching history as one of the history teachers retired. The class was basically turned into silent reading and answer questions on a double sided dittoed worksheet. Fully half of us transferred out by the end of the first semester. I moved to a private school that had teachers teaching subjects they had majored in. One or two even had teaching credentials in those subjects. Sister Mary Beethoven could even count time if the time was 4/4. Jarvis and Gann got what they deserved in most ironic ways. Jaris died of a brain hemorrhage and Gann died from “complications” of heart surgery (AIDS tainted blood)
Schools getting rid of art, music, drama, and PE are really short-sighted. The arts actually help students learn and helps mental health. PE all throughout school also helps students learn, helps mental health, and can establish good health habits in a time where obesity is a serious problem.
Furthermore, not everyone is cut out for STEM. There are people who are of an artistic or athletic mind. We need to offer classes for those students!
