Did he throw his entire hand? There doesn’t seem to be anything left beyond the sleeve!

Yeah I’m almost certain it’s meant that his mitten stuck to the snowball but when that happens one usually still has a hand left behind! We should be able to see Charlie’s (now bare) hand sticking out of his sleeve!
