Theres some truth to this. I know people that could find the exact sheet of paper in about 20 seconds though the office was covered in 3,254 separate and distinct piles of paper.
The look you’d get if you moved a piece of paper without their permission though……
Back in the 80’s a cousin (distant) of my wife’s died leaving a house similar to that. Boxes of hair from brushes in the closet, Newspapers stacked to the ceiling leaving only a small walkway between stacks, a potty diary describing each …deposit… diary of thermometers difference between the front and back doors every hour for years and much much more. UGH.
Used to have a manager who’s desk looked like this. While he was on vacation, another manager suggested I could clean up and organize the chaos. Being not too bright, this sounded like a good idea to me. Boy was I in trouble when he got back.

She must be another Geologist. We tend to file by pile and if you know your Stratigraphy you know where to look for something.
